Helen Shaw Kessler in the Cottage Working

The previous owners of this cottage were Herman Kessler and Helen Shaw Kessler. Helen was considered by most fishing aficionados to be "The First Lady of Fly Tying". She grew up in Wisconsin and started her fly tying career. Later in life she married Herman Kessler who was the photo editor for Field & Stream magazine. They purchased this house as a weekend home and eventually relocated up to Columbia County full time in 1979.
